Welcome everyone to my new website and blog. As you browse through this website a lot of content may look the same, but there are some changes.
- Photos – Though they are still not professional grade photos, I thought that I would put up some updated photos with the logo that you guys voted on last year.
- About Page – Though it still holds the same information, I reworked my about page so that I can easily use parts of the information for different platforms.
- Blog – As I continue to write for blogs, I notice ways I can do it better. Last month, I asked readers to cast their votes, on the old site, on what categories they wanted kept. Notice, I have dropped the opinions and informational categories. Opinions had one vote, but that was not convincing enough for me to keep, as it was difficult to come up with ideas monthly. News, Reviews, and Music Trivia are still around for Kay Smith Music updates, reviewing gear and performances, and random trivia on anything music related. The community category is new, as it will provide insight on the local music scene, undergoing projects here at Kay Smith Music, and how followers can get involved.
- Social Media – The last website had my social media links to the bottom of the page, but now they show up as icons at the top of the page. Twitter and Instagram are brand new additions, while Facebook and YouTube have been around for awhile.
Why Change Websites?
After reading many articles and books about successful musicians, one thing that kept popping up was that your title or name should be the same on all platforms, whether that is your website or social media. My name was a little too popular to be able to do that, but I didn’t want a made-up name either. So, Kay Smith Music is the end result. Also, the hosting service for my old website seemed to be constraining, as opposed to this new one, which allows it to grow.
